On August 2 and 3, the SGOMOT team and their menagerie of gadgets will be back in Timișoara to hold an anniversary workshop on sound and the forms it can take, proposing new activities that include crazy software, spatial objects, sounds, scribbles, and pots. SGOMOT is a portable sound laboratory founded 10 years ago by Sillyconductor, a sound artist from Bucharest, consisting of a system of instruments, sensors, and interactive devices designed to familiarize children with unusual forms of musical creation, starting from various principles of physics and bioacoustics and invariably ending up with the most futuristic din. SGOMOT is always different. From video art workshops for teenagers at Rezidența Scena9, to foley and sound effects workshops held during ArtCamps organized by Minitremu in Tg. Mureș or by KraftMade in Cincu, to live looping workshops at the InContext Slănic Moldova festival, the sound workshop for stop motion animation organized in The Hague as part of the Eastwards festival, or the educational camps organized by the UiPath Foundation in disadvantaged areas of Romania in 2021 and 2024. In 2016, SGOMOT also visited children with hearing disabilities at the No. 2 Inclusive Education School Center in Sibiu, for whom it created several special interactive installations based on vibration or other novel ways of perceiving sound. In 2025, the SGOMOT team was invited to teach a series of modules at the French High School "Anna de Noailles" in Bucharest as part of the "But Is It Art?" program.
The workshop is aimed at young people aged 8-14.
Participation in the event is free, but you must register in advance (10 places available).
