The first day of Timișoara City Celebration 2026 brought over 35,000 participants to the city, who took part in concerts, performances, sports activities, exhibitions, art installations, and events dedicated to local communities, held in Civic Park, I.C. Brătianu Park and Boulevard, the Uszoda Area, and at over 30 venues throughout the city.
„Un oraș, o mie de feluri de a-l trăi. Prin muzică și sport, prin întâlniri și reîntâlniri, prin locuri pe care le descoperim sau le redescoperim, prin emoția unor seri ca cea de ieri, alături de Beth Hart, Alexandra Căpitănescu și timișorenii de la JazzyBIT și K-lu. Mă bucur să văd așa mulți oameni, timișoreni și turiști, au ales sa celebreze Timișoara împreună, încă din prima zi."
The highlight of the evening was the concert by Beth Hart, who was performing in Timișoara for the first time. In front of a packed boulevard, the American artist delivered an intense performance, in which the extraordinary power of her voice, the sensitivity of her interpretation, and her connection with the audience made the concert one of the most moving moments of this year’s festival.
The evening began with Timișoara-based artists JazzyBIT & K-lu, who kicked off the main stage program and set the tone for the four days of festivities dedicated to the city. Their concert brought the energy of the local music scene to I.C. Brătianu Boulevard and reaffirmed the role that Timișoara City Celebration plays in honoring the artists who contribute to the city’s cultural identity. Another special moment of the evening belonged to Alexandra Căpitănescu, who celebrated her birthday right on the main stage. The artist was surprised by the audience when thousands of people sang “Happy Birthday!” together, in a spontaneous gesture that turned the concert into a moment of genuine emotion.
Beyond the main stage, the first day featured dozens of events throughout the city. Thousands of participants discovered programs dedicated to the local music and creative scene in Civic Park and I. Park. C. Brătianu Park, where festivals and organizations such as Time to Rock by FITT, Flight Festival, Psihodrom, Muzicon Hub, Guilty Corner, Embargo Hub, CODRU, and JAZZx offered concerts, installations, showcases, and activities for all ages. In neighborhoods and other cultural spaces throughout the city, the public attended performances, exhibitions, guided tours, and events for children. One of the day’s highlights was the official opening of the Iosefin Water Tower, an event eagerly anticipated by the community. Also as part of the program, the public was able to discover performance installations, artistic interventions, and projects that transformed the city into a space where culture, community, and heritage converge.
Timișoara City Celebration continues on Saturday, August 1, with a new series of concerts on the main stage on I.C. Brătianu Boulevard. The audience will be able to see Dora Gaitanovici, Satoshi, Irina Rimes, and, for the first time in Timișoara, The Script, one of the most beloved pop-rock bands of the last two decades.
In Victoriei Square, on Saturday, August 1, and Sunday, August 2, the public is invited to the show “Meraviglia. Dancing Fountains, Flames, and Aerial Acrobatics”. At the same time, the program features dozens of other events in Civic Park, I.C. Brătianu Park, the Uszoda Area, and at over 30 locations throughout the city, all with free admission.
Timișoara City Celebration continues through August 3 under the slogan “One city. A thousand ways to experience it.” and invites the public to discover Timișoara through music, culture, sports, and experiences for the entire community.
The “Timișoara City Celebration” event is funded by the Timișoara City Hall and coordinated and co-organized by the Project Center and the House of Culture.
